Just another day

Hello Pumpkins,

I've been pretty busy today in my quest to living frugaly I wanted to use up a bag of whole wheat flour that I've had for a while so I decided to try and make some bread with it.  I thought making bread is easy I've made white bread before so whole wheat bread shouldn't be any harder well boy was I wrong.

I started off with this recipe. It did not go well, The bread barely rose and the bread tasted awful. I don't know what I did wrong but let's just say it was a disaster I then decided to try two more recipes of my own. They turned out a bit better but let's just say if I want to make brown bread I will have to have a lot more practice.

I also made some Cabbage Casserole soup. I will try and find my recipe for the vegetarian cabbage casserole I used to make this soup and then write what I used for this soup. I always like to use recipes that I can use in another one. I came up with this recipe because like many of us my hubby has a Pinterest account. He likes to look at food porn and had shared this recipe.  I then got an idea, again on the living frugal path I remembered that I had made extra cabbage casserole ( vegetarian) when I was doing one day of meatless Mondays ( really thinking of doing that again) that was probably about to go bad so I decided hey turn it in to soup. So adding a few ingredients to the casserole voilĂ  it  turned into a yummy hearty soup. Again, I will post it as soon as I find that darn recipe.

I did the normal things of bathing the kids and making supper. My hubby has now decided since yesterday that the whole family will be watching Christmas movies which make me chuckle because well he is a bit of a Grinch. Yesterday we watched Home Alone ( the original with Macaulay Culkin). Tonight we watched Frosty the snowman and Frosty Returns ( he and the youngest fell asleep watching this). As I write this I keep peeing at my two sleeping boys and my eldest who is trying so hard not to fall asleep. I am thinking of how blessed I am right now even though we are struggling right now financially, I am so thankful that we have everything we need but mostly that we have each other.

The rest of the week is me working except for Saturday that will be my only day off until the 23rd and then hooray a week off  to spend with all my loved ones.

The last couple weeks have been bad for me exercising in fact I really haven't done much. I've gained 5 lbs in the last two months. I have been extremely sore so much so that I have developed 4 cold sores in the last 2 months because of the fevers I got from my Fibromyalgia. I have done some yoga and I hoping to get more in this week, I have decided to start from the beginning when in comes to exercising. My eating habits haven't been too bad it is more my portion sizes that I have to start watching again. With everything happening it is a bit stressful and I am an eater this time of year ( or any time sleep evades me and stress creeps in). I know that is a big issue I have to work on. I was getting until now. I think I am just giving myself a bit more leeway just because of the time of year it is. Come the first I will be right back on the good track. I am going to continue and have a few yoga sessions in the next couple of weeks. The health eating habits ( not binge eating and portion sizes) will probably come back once the holidays .

That is the latest update from me. I don't know if I will be blogging any more until the New year. If not.

Merry Christmas and Happy New year,

ME

New Years Resolution

Hello All,

So I told you I would try to write this by or just after New years. Today I had a bit of time so here it is. My resolutions list.

Now every year many people say don' make to many resolutions or you won't stick to them. Well I like to make a big list and then try and tackle something off the list every couple of months.

I did manage to get several items off of my list this year and I am happy for it. Some I half conquered and others I didn't conquer at all and that is ok.

I managed to kick start my healthy life this year and I am quiet glad I did. I didn't lose a bunch of weight but. I did lose several pounds ( 20lbs to exact), While doing so I also established beter eating habits and I am happy for that. I started exercising and build strength and endurance which helped me with pain management and keep up with the kids.

I also managed to knit up a few items. Yes, I did buy yarn for these projects although I siad I wouldn't buy any more but I still did finish the projects with them. I knitted My oldest halloween costume and I made a wonderful scarf for a new friend. I also learned how to arm knit which is cool.

So what are 2015 Resolution?

I am hoping to continue with the blog along with updating and checking up on the boxes that are already added to see which still exist and which possibly now ship to Canada.

Not buying new yarn this year. ( which will be hard but I can do this)

Continue on my road to healthy habits.

Becoming more frugal. That's right I want to be able to live comfortably on the little money I have left. I am hoping to blog about my adventures to you guys.

I am hoping to get out of debt. Year 2016 will hopefully be debt free.

And of course I am hoping to have another kick ass year with my little family and have a lot more laughter and love into our lives.

Christmas is near.

Hello Loves,

Today I will be talking about a bunch of things just cause I want too :).

The first thing is my measurements I took these on the 23rd of November I know it's earlier then what I normally take them but I am trying to avoid taking the measurements while I am on my period although I was still bloated when I took these measurements so it didn't make much of a difference.

Weight: 174 ( down 1 lbs)

Neck: 14 1/4

Shoulders: 46 1/2
Waist: 39 (40)
Chest 42 (43)
Hips: 40

Biceps: 14/1/2
Thighs: 25 (26)
calf: 16

I lost one pound and 1 inch off of my chest, hips and thighs. I was also using a new tape measurer so the measurements might be off.

I am still working out although I haven't had as much energy to do.  I am often exhausted probably because of being in a lot of pain lately due to all the weather changes but it will pass and I will be working out often again. I also try and do at least part of a workout everyday. I do walk or from daycare and work which is a bit of exercise. I have added some yoga back into my life 1-2 a week especially on days that I don't feel like working at all. I did a bit today but odds are later tonight ( If I don't fall asleep first) I will be doing some yoga just to relax and let some tension go.

This weekend was a bit of a bust for my eating compared to my week and today too :). I had a staff party where I totally binged on kielbassa and M&M's I probably gained 5 lbs all weekend. I then went of to the restaurant with the hubby and the kids. We had a salad, chicken parmesan with spaghetti and I had a millefeuille dessert yummy. Today I made a bunch of cookies for gifts and for Christmas so my oldest can have dessert as he is allergic to eggs.

Later on this month or first thing in January I will be talking about my goals that I managed to get through this year and the ones I want to set for 2015.

On the note of Christmas I was seeing a lot of things on the news and I just wanted to remind myself and you what Christmas should be about.

I noticed that a lot of the news talked about Black Friday and how so many fights happened but what surprised me the most was the video of a man that had fallen on the opening of the doors at a mall and not one single person helped him up instead they just stomped all over him for the sake of toys.

That's when I started thinking what is Christmas to me?

My husband and I have this debate every year. Every year I hear him say that it is just some stupid religious thing that no one actually cares about any more. It's just all about toys.

My answer is. Yes, there are many people who celebrate Christmas and not everyone does it to celebrate the birth of Jesus any more in fact probably most people don't celebrate the birth of Jesus.

I know I don't. So why do I celebrate Christmas? In part tradition, I think tradition is something that can be great especially when it comes to Christmas. For me Christmas is about family. I do think that families should meet up more often and not on just Christmas but we often don't that is why I like Christmas we all take time to visit and see family. Christmas is about laughing with each other and reminding and showing each other how much we love each other even if we see each together only a few times a year. The gifts are great but they aren't necessary. I think it is time to show our children what Christmas is about. I don't buy my child gifts on Christmas my family members do and some just give us money which goes in an account for the kids and we use it when we need it.

This Christmas share the laughs and the love and if you buy gifts great but don't make the holiday seasons about them. Remind yourself and your children that compassion and caring are more important then toys. Remind them that they don't have to be caught up in materialistic things.

So Merry Christmas to all of you out there just in case I don't get to write to you again before the new year.

Her Fitness Box ( HFB) Review 2014

After months of waiting my package finally arrived.

What is Her Fitness Box?

I paid 50$ for mine ( The price on the site is AU so I am giving the Canadian price that includes shipping) I did not have to pay anything for customs or taxes.

They promise, 1 designer collaborated product, 2-3  fitness items, 6-8 Deluxe Health and Lifestyle Products

The theme was Spring

This was what was in the bag. I wouldn't say that it was nicely package just sort of crammed in the bag. I do Understand that this product comes all the way from Australia so things could've of been moved around in the bag while shipping.

Smoothie Booster ( 30$ for a 30 day pack. I got one pack so Value of this is 1$)

These  Natural Vegan powders are designed to be added daily to your smoothies, can help lower your cholesterol, reduce fatigue and anxiety and increase brain function.

You were either going to receive the Health booster or the Energy Booster it is not stated on the package which one you get. I am assuming by reading the back of the package which explains each ingredient that I got the energy booster.

I would not call this a Deluxe Sample since I only got one  and this Item was on the Description card

BAre Blends- Native Whey Protein Isolate (39.99$, 500g. I received two packs of 30g approximative value 5$)

A perfect high-protein rejuvenating drink to consume after exercise! In Organic Vanilla Bean flavour, this is gluten free, non GMO and suitable for vegetarians.

I like that this product can be used by a wide variety of people ( vegetarian and non vegetarians alike). I also look forward to the flavour I love Vanilla so I am hoping that it will be good.

Again though not something that I would consider a deluxe sized sample considering the size of a regular pack)

Emma Organics- Hand and Nail revive ( 50ml 18.35$ I got 2x 5 g samples 2$ approximation)

An intensive nourishing cream with organic ingredients to improve the skin, cuticle and nails. It helps repair the daily wear and tear to deliver healthy, plump and glowing looking hands. Cruelty and palm oil free. Suitable for vegans.

Again another little sample marked on the description card. ( I would NOT call this deluxe)

This product isn't really for me although my hands get a beating very day that still look great. I probably will still use this because I do like and lotions. This also came with a pamphlet that talked about all their other products.

Jump Rope ( approximation price 5-10$)

This also wasn't on the card and the HFB site didn't have these in their store so I approximated the price. I like that I now have a skipping rope but I will have to wait till summer to use it.

Slim Secrets- Fit & Fab Protein Bar -28g ( 32.40 for a 12 pack, I got 1 retail approximation 3$)

In a tasty Creme Caramel flavour, this mini snack has 9.3 g of protein per serve, less the 1g of sugar, only 1 g of carbohydrates and is wheat free.

I wish I had at least two of these. These bar tasted great it was the first thing I used and the flavour was delicious. This also came with a pamphlet of all their other products.
Naturals Crunch! Natural Sweetener  ( 250g, 8.59$)

From the maker of Equal, these sugar-free crystals are 100% natural with 97% less calories than sugar. They're perfect for replacing sugar in all you daily sweetening needs.

I think this is a full sized sample in a small pack or it is a deluxe sample.

I am interested in trying this product especially since I am slowly trying to eliminate sugar out of my coffees and teas. This just might give me the bit of sweetness I need.

Fresh Feet- Probiotic Solutions- Foot odour eater ( 50ml 3$)

Keep your feet smelling fresh with this probiotic odour neutraliser created through a natural fermentation process.  It is chemical free, earth friendly and family and pet friendly.
I am assuming this is full-Sized

I am happy to have this product I work long days on my feet and sometimes they stink I can't wait to try this product out.
Shick - Hydro Silk razor ( Approximation Price 18$)

This uniquely designed razor goes beyond an incredibly close shave to actually care for your skin. With Water-Activated Moisturizing Serum and 5 Curve-Sensing blades with skin guards to help protect skin from irritation, the Hydro Silk razor leaves skin feeling silky smooth!  ( Taken from well.ca)

I am glad I got a razor this will probably be my travelling one. I used to buy disposables but I hate having to throw a razor out when it is still good. This way I have a razor that I can use when I am away and still finish using the blade when I get home.

This was not on the description card so I am happy to have this in my bag.

BX Earth- Bit Of A Soft Touch Body Wash ( 500ml, 7,99$)

Made with sweet smelling peach and Manuka Honey with soothing goat's milk and jojoba oil, this nourishing bodywash is full of botanical based ingredients, antioxidants, bioactive extracts and natural essential oils that benefit your body's well being. It is environmentally friendly and free of harsh detergents.

This is a full sample and I am happy with this. You can never have to mane body washes in my opinion especially those that sound delicious enough to eat.
\
HFB Exercise Ball ( 30$ Value )

Discover how you can Incorporate the exercise ball in your routine with our HFB Workout card.

There was a card in the box with three exercises ( only one was for the ball)

I did like that I received a ball even though I already own one. My oldest child likes to imitate the things I do so I might just give him my old one and use this one. Although 30$ for this maybe. I did find some for the same price and some cheaper and they all came with pumps. For that I'll be lenient on judging the price cost since I can find some that are more expensive that don't come with anything also.

All the pamphlets that were in the box.

HFB Description Card.

Thoughts
I am a bit torn with this box. It is spring in Australia and Winter here so there theme doesn't work with the season that I am in but that is fine, besides the skipping rope I can use everything in this box. Plus have a summery smelling body wash will keep my spirits up during the winter month.

I also wasn't happy that this box was supposed to come out in August. I messaged them in September they replied to me and then they also put out an official e-mail to everyone saying that the boxes will be shipped out in September due to them wanting to give us the best box. I was ok with that. My issue came when October came and went and I still had no box and they charged me for a second box. I Then messaged them the first week of November I asked them to refund my  money for the two box they charged me. They messaged me a week later letting me know that my box was shipped out and then they gave me my tracking number ( I would think they would send out tracking numbers when your box is shipped but apparently not) and they refunded me my second box. For this I am a bit bitter for the company. You do not delay shipping your box almost another 2 months without giving an explanation.

I was a bit disappointed with some of the samples as I do not consider them Deluxe. With that said I will use everything in the box which is a good thing and I am glad that I received full sized items too and a few surprises.

Overall I would recommend this box but only if you are willing to deal with the hassle of delayed boxes and them taking payments out before you even receive a box. I have not renewed my subscription to this box for that reason. When I subscribe to monthly boxes I want a hassle free box not one where I need to worry if I lost my money or not.

Did you ever order a HFB? What was your experience?

Nice n' Easy Semi-Permanent hair dye Review

Nice n' Easy Semi-Permanent Hair Dye
( Mahogany Black)

Packaging  ( 1/ 1.5 Stars)

I like that the box has a simple package. I took off .5 of the star rating because I don't think the picture on the cover is accurate. I do understand that they exaggerate the colour on the box but I do think there should be a limit. My hair does have a variation of high and low lights in it but it depends how the light shines on it. You can't see three distinct different colours just by looking at it at a glance. The kit comes with everything you need, including gloves.

Instructions ( 1/1.5)

The instructions were easy to follow but I do think they should let people know how to do the testing on your hair. The instruction says that once the products are mixed together they are only active for an hour. That told me that if I mix both bottles completely and then try it on just once strip that takes let say 45 minutes to give me the colour I want my hair to be that the product in the bottle will only be active for another 15 minutes so I would have to buy another kit. I just took a bit of product out of the bottles and mixed then in a separate bowl to my test strip but I do think that they should give a better explanation on that. Also they want you to take the plastic piece of the bottle and then put your finger on top of it so when you shake it the product doesn't come out which doesn't make sense to me. I left the piece of plastic on the top of the applicator bottle and shook the product and then took it off and it was fine. Besides that I think the instructions are clear and it made it easy to apply the product to my hair.

The instructions are also in French and in English which I think is also great. There is also pictures to help guide you through the instructions.

These are the two bottles that you mix together to activate the dye. I kept the plastic part on top of the applicator bottle ( 2) instead of taking it off like the instructions said to save me from making an accidental mess.

Application  ( 1/1)

The application was super easy. Once you follow the instruction on how to mix and apply the dye it is easy peasy. The pointy tip of the applicator bottle really helps you get into your roots. I have had experience with other bottles that didn't let me get to my roots the way I should and ended up having the dreaded roots showing and the rest of my hair dyed ( ugh).  I didn't have the problem with this. The bottle also had enough to do my whole head my hair is fairly thick and curly and is just past my shoulders. People with longer hair should go with two kits.

This conditioner is found in the package it is to be used once a week, It is supposed to help keep the colour in your hair longer.

Me waiting for the dye to work. I left mine in for 45 minutes to get the darkest colour possible.

Before and After

Colour (1/ 1)

Although the colour in my hair is not at all like the pictures I think that the colour here deserves its full point. I have dyed my hair 4 weeks ago and it is still going strong I don't even need a touch up. The Conditioner has lasted me up until no and probably still will for another two weeks. Also the 3 colours that are supposed to appear aren't extreme like the box but they are there. In fact most people didn't even know I died my hair despite going from dark brown to Mahogany black which I liked. Because of the Mahogany tints in the dye it just looked like my natural hair. I love this product and definitely would recommend it.

I received this product complimentary for testing purposes as a BZZagent

It's been a while

Hello gang,

Sorry I haven't written anything personal lately itg;s been a busy couple of weeks. My oldest got sick with a double ear infection and then my youngest got sick too and they were both put on antibiotics. That all came down to me not sleeping much and not doing much either because of the sleepless nights. I also got sick because of this and I am currently fighting a cold and sinus infection.

On the working out front I did start off strong this week with two workouts under my belt and then as stated above the bug hit out home and then nothing got done exercise wise except for walking to walk and moving some boxes there. Although I am still recuperating from this I am hoping to have a better workout week. this week. I also didn't take my measurements  because it was that lovely time of month and was extremely bloated now I am bloated just because I have to breathe out of my mouth ugh. I will try and get measurements and pictures taken at the beginning of next month. Physically looking at me and the scale it doesn't seem like much had improved but it has. I am now able to do 6 full regular push-ups ( with arm wider then shoulder width apart) when I could barely do 5 modified push-ups ( on knees). I am getting better at military push-ups ( hands under shoulders) and once I have those completely mastered I want to be able to do full diamond push-ups ( hands under chest).  I am also finding that moving boxes at work has become extremely easy.

My eating habits went a little bit down the drain and I think I suffered from dehydration. I didn't felt really sick one day and I decided to drink a lot of water and eat a lot of soup and that helped a lot with my aches my pains.

Besides that I've just been really busy. I finished knitting a project which I will post later once the recipient gets it. I have to mail it out this week it was part of an exchange on a group that I am on. I am also working now on a simple garter stitch baby blanket with bohemian yarn which is fleece like and really soft. Besides that there isn't much going on I am going to be going to bed now though to try and catch up on my sleep.

to all a goodnight :)

Monopoly Junior Review

I received this product for testing/review purposes through Influenster Canada.

What the outside of the box looked like. Being able to see the game pieces had me already excited . I like that you can see the pieces through the windows.

Now let's take a look inside.

The board the game is half the size of the adult board. All properties have been cut in half from the adult Version.
These cut out pieces come are what you will use to place on the board once you have bought a property they match the game pieces.

The game pieces. I love that these all have faces on them and that they are geared towards younger children. I also love the fact that they aren't just cone shaped like some board game pieces.

They also come in a yellow plastic part which holds them into the box.

The rule "book". I like that the instructions are both in French and English ( Yes, I am French). I also love how simple these are to follow. The instructions are quiet large and clear to read which is also a plus in books.

Chance Card. These are similar to the ones in the adult version and you get two packs. I like that you get two packs in case you lose cards from one you have extra.

The only money in this game are the 1M, I like that they have these but I would've loved to see at least another denomination in this game. I think children of 5 years know more then the number 1.

Review

I loved this game and here is why:

-The playing period is short. I love that this game isn't extremely long lasting ( the adult version can last for hours). I like this because younger children can get uninterested in things fairly quickly and  the short playing period with this game allows you to actually finish a game.

I wanted to prolong the game with my little boo so I just handed more money out.

- I love the game piece choices which make the game that much more interesting.

- It is easy to understand and learn at any age.

- If you play with younger kids, they can learn to count up to six and I think that is always a bonus.

The only change I would like to see in this game as stated before is the money denomination. I would like to see at least one more since kids of age 5 should know more then just the number 1 by now.

My little guy enjoying the game. We played one game which I prolonged by giving out more money and we had lots of fun. The little bugger won :)

Busy, Busy, Busy

Hello gang,

The last couple weeks have been pretty busy. Last week when it came to exercise and eating healthy everything sort of went down the drain. I've eaten bad food and only did half the workouts. I am back on track this week so far. I am tired and sore today but I am hoping to feel better soon. I am started week 8 last week and I will be doing measurements next Saturday on the 8th.

The kids started daycare again this week and they seem to enjoy it except for the little guy he just wants to cry all the time and my older guy loves it so much I can't get him to leave. I am hoping after next week that the battle of the kids v.s. daycare will be a little easier to win.

I also received a box of Clairol nice n' easy semi-permanent hair dye in mahogany black to try and review ( Complimentary product for reviewing purposes) from Bzzagent.com. I have reviewed other products from them but I they were deleted in the changing of the blog. I did review crest pro-health ( Toothbrush, toothpaste and mouthwash, Lavazza coffee ( delicious),  Herbal essences Naked line ( Shampoo, Conditioner and mousse). I will be dying my hair hopefully in the next couple of days so I can let you know how my experience went.

I finished my son's Oscar the grouch "costume" for Halloween he is excited for it. It did take me forever top finish this project because I lost my knitting bug half way through making it. He should remain nice and warm in this on Halloween.

My early costume party was enjoyable. I dressed up as a doll and the night was filled with drinks and friends. I had an old dress on, with a faux hawk and some doll make-up.

I am also participating in a make-up exchange. I don't have acces to a lot of stores around here that have make-up so I was allowed to knit something up for my partner which I am working on. I did start it but then I had to take it apart because it wasn't working out the way I wanted to.

That is all for today. Although I have still a lot to say I have little ones to go play with and more things to knit up.

Measurements October

Hello muffins,

I hope you have all been doing well ( I know have). As I have previously told you guys ( and gals) that I am going to take my measurements and weight once a month. Today was that day. I cam currently taking part in a Fitocracy class that is for women using bodyweight.  I am really enjoying this program which consist of 5 workouts a week and to see results we are supposed to do a minimum of 3. I have been doing pretty good at staying at doing all 5 workouts a week. It is trying, sometimes after a day of work and doing all the things mom's do I am tired and do not want to do the workouts and it is really hard to get into the mood ( especially when I am sore).

There is a lot of obstacles that I found in trying ot be healthier but I am slowly finding ways to beat them.  The fight to get moving is actually one of the biggest. As much as my says  I should it also fights to say I shouldn't. I know that I need to exercises, it has many health benefits ( my brain lists a bunch of them), but I am tired and I can't see any physical results ( you don't look thinner my brain argues back). The on going fight is hard I deal with it every day but I fight it. Although part of my says that I am tired and what's the point because I can't really see any changes I have to remind myself why I am doing this.  I want to be healhty and be a good role model for my children. I don't want them to think that sitting on your behind getting physically unfit is good for them. I want them to live a healthy happy life. My life is happy but it is unhealthy which causes problems such as having trouble keeping up with my kids and not being sore all the time. I remind myself that I am doing it for them so they can have a mother that can run and play with them no matter how old they are, but most importantly I am doing this for myself ( plus who ever works out and then tells themselves they regret it).

Food is my second biggest obstacle ( this also needs a lot of fighting with my mind to get over). I am one of those people who crave food all the time for various reasons ( PMS, Boredom, Emotional, Just because). Eating healthy is just as important than the exercising that is why this is probably one of the most frustrating thing is eating. I am not starving myself and I am not eating copious amounts of food. In fact I try for the most part to stick to proper portions through the use of food scales and labels. My issue is the cravings, I have been doing great at not binge eating but I can still do better. Ever since I started to exercise I keep telling myself I can indulge myself a little more and I have to say I did eat a few more cookies and cupcakes then I should've this month. I need to remind myself from now on that the healthier the food I eat the bigger and better healthy result I will get. I am proud though that I haven't binged since this started. I have also learned to fight the cravings by eating small amounts of what I want. For example I crave chocolate all the time but instead of going to the grocery store and buy a ( many) chocolate bar(s) I eat a granola bar instead that has a bit of chocolate and this helps me fight my cravings and keeps me full. I also drink more water, when I have a craving I have a glass of water, I find that sometimes a glass of water is all I need to curb my cravings and make me realize that I don't need that particular item that I wanted to eat. I also don't completely stop eating what I want, I've found this to be a good thing for me because when I deprived myself of all my cravings I binged. I also started eating actual lunches. That was another problem for me, I ate breakfast and supper but lunch was always just putting bit and pieces of whatever food was going on the kids lunch plates. I found that since eating actual meals that my cravings have diminished and I have more energy throughout the day.

I started writing this post yesterday but was uinable to finish due to computer issues, my youngest decided to click a bunch of  buttons and deleted the first post I wrote about my weight loss journey and that is ok ( frustrating but ok). Below I have posted the pictures I took of the beginning of the journey and the measurements as well as this month measurements. I will be taking pictures again at the end of the 12 week period.

Now that all that is said here are my measurements from the beginning of this all

Weight : 178lbs

Neck: 14 1/2
Shoulders; 46 1/2
Chest: 43
Waist: 40
Hips: 41

Biceps: 14
Thighs: 26
Calf: 16

This month measurements ( October)

Weight: 175 lbs

Neck: 14 1/2
Shoulders: 46 ( lost half an inch)
Chest:42 ( lost 1 inch)
Waist: 39 ( lost 1 inch)
Hips: 40 1/2  ( I retook my measurement and it's accurate)

Biceps 14
Thighs: 25 ( lost 1 inch on each side)
Calf: 16

In total I have lost 5 inches in total and 3 pounds. I have also gained muscles, in my arms even though there is no changes in the inches.

Now onto the household news. We have figured out the bed time routine for monkey. There is a lot less fighting now to get him in bed and most nights he is now asleep by 8-9 pm instead of 9-10 pm so I am happy about that for sure. BB ( which will stand for BIG BOY for my youngest) is doing good he is walking all over the house now.

BB eats a lot and now we have the fight with Monkey to eat. He rarely eats supper and when he does it is usually later. I am not the kind of parent to force my child to eat and I know that when monkey is hungry he will eat. It is just frustrating as a parent that your child doesn't want to eat at the same time as everyone else. The way I see it though is I don't force myself to eat when I am not hungry so I will not force the same on my child even if that means that he eats at 7 instead of 5 with the rest us.

The hubby has been busy a lot the past few weeks  because of town elections for council and mayor. I am practically a single mom right now for about 3-4 nights a week until these elections are over on October 27th and I can't wait to have the hubby back home at night every night.

That's all for now.

Have a good day.

Monday 22 September 2014

Hello lovelies,

So I told you that I was going to weigh in and do measurements today but after some discussions with a group that I am on I decided I will only do it once a month. Therefore, my measurement and weigh ins will be on the 8th of every month.

So far I have kept up with working out 5 days a week and will continue on this path. I still have to do today's workout so this blog will be short and sweet. I still haven't added yoga back into my routine yet because I have been getting my sleep instead which is just as important. I have been eating a half decent healthy diet but I still need to do a lot to clean it up.

I am enjoying the program that I am on right now and I am hoping to continue enjoying it. I will also be continuing to add recipes and hopefully add more boxes to the list.

That's all for tonight.

Bell pepper spinach soup

Bell Pepper and Spinach soup

This is yet another recipe that was created because I had food that was about to spoil in the fridge. I like to buy the packs of mini bell peppers at the grocery but often I don't eat them all on time. We also tend to throw out a lot of spinach ( We try to eat healthy but a lot of time we don't eat enough of the produce on time).

I decided to make soup because it was a chillier day and I though a good soup would make for a good warm-up.

Ingredients

360g of Bell peppers( I used Red, Orange and Yellow peppers)
( Once you weigh them, de-seed them)
1/2 of a large onion ( chopped)
3 tablespoons Olive oil
1 1/2 Chopped Garlic ( I use already chopped jarred Garlic)
1 teaspoon  Oregano( fresh or dry )
1 teaspoon Thyme ( Fresh or dry)
1 teaspoon cinnamon
900 ml vegetable broth
1/2 cup of rice ( White or Brown)
4 cups of baby spinach

In a pot cook the onions and peppers together with the garlic, oregano, thyme and cinnamon. Cook until the onions turn clear.

Add the broth and rice into the pot and let it simmer for 30 minutes.

In a blender pour 2 cups of the contents of the pot with two cups of spinach ( the whole pot should yield about 4 cups) hit the liquefy button and voilĂ  it is ready to eat.

Kiwi orange bread

Kiwi Orange Bread

Ingredients

3 Cups Flour
1 tablespoon Baking Powder
1 teaspoon Baking Soda

1 cup of butter ( I use salted butter and melt a bit)
1 cup white granulated sugar

5 kiwis ( Peeled and mashed yields approximately 2 cups)
The juices and skin of one orange ( grated yields about 1/2 cups)

1/3 cup of water
1 Tablespoon of chia seeds ( I used the ground up type)

Directions

Preheat oven to 350 degrees

Mix the chia seeds and the water together in a small bowl let set.

In a bowl mix the first three ingredients ( flour, baking soda and baking powder). Set aside.

Mix the butter and the sugar together in a separate bowl until well blended. ( I do it by hand but by all means use an electric beater if you have one)

Once the sugar and butter are combined add the fruits and chia seed mix and  blend everything  together.

Make a hole ( or a well) in the middle of the flour mix. Pout the fruit mixture in the middle and mix all the ingredients until well blended ( try not to mix it for to long as it will make your bread harder)

Grease some baking pans. I used a 4" by 8" pan and a multi-sectional pan ( 2" by 4" there is 8 section in the pan) Fill each pan about half way with batter.

Cook for 15-30 minutes depending on the size of your pans or until a toothpick comes clean after poking it into the center of the bread.

Let cool take out of pans and enjoy.

I came up with this recipe when I had kiwis and an orange becoming a a little too ripe. I decided this year that I wanted to stop wasting food in the house. I used to throw out a lot of vegetables and fruits out every week which adds up to a lot of money. Now I buy flour and butter on sale so I can always bake cookies and breads and good knows what more recipes I can come up with.

This bread is just a right amount of sweet and really moist. You will mostly taste the orange over the kiwi.
